Like most cities in the UK, London now has more pawnbrokers than ever before. The benefit for you of course is that the more competition out there for your custom the better the deal to be had – but only IF you are prepared to visit several pawn shops rather than just taking the first offer you get for your valuables.
To a large extent the London pawnbrokers that you visit will be dependent on what it is you wish to use as security. Even Mayfair isn’t without a pawn shop although these upscale shops are catering for customers looking to borrow on items at the higher valuation end such as fine art and prestige watches.
The following half dozen London pawnbrokers are in no particular order. They are listed for their diversity and hopefully, whatever it is you are hoping to use as security you will find at least one of the following willing to oblige.

They will actually assess your items over the phone and make you a loan offer so probably worth giving them a call even if you aren’t in their area.

H&T Pawnbrokers, 111 Lower Marsh, Waterloo, SE1 7AE – Tel: 020 7928 0382
H&T Pawnbrokers have close to 50 branches in and around London. They only accept jewellery and watches as security but will lend anything from £5 up to £100,000. You are also welcome to take several items in for valuation and pool them together as security for 1 loan. Read our H&T pawnbrokers review.
Whichever pawnbroker you visit, the principals remain the same. All that differs is the value placed on the security you are providing and the rate of interest they are offering you. Your item will first be valued and then an offer of a loan will be made based on that value.
If you accept the offer and terms you will sign the agreement and walk away with the cash there and then. There are no repayment plans to worry about, you simply return the amount borrowed plus the agreed interest for each month you had the money within 6 months and pick up your valuables.
With the majority of pawnbrokers in London you can expect to be offered a loan of around 50% of what the valuer thinks they will get for the item should it be sold at auction. You will find this and the amount of interest charged can vary quite a bit so it does pay to visit several pawn shops before agreeing to a deal.
If you go on to use any of the above companies or have already had personal dealings with these or any other London pawnbrokers please leave your experiences in the comments below, thanks.
